We are passionate about your privacy and security.
We make our online shopping service as secure as we possibly can. We are constantly vigilant for new threats and use the best practices we can find, to keep on top of security and privacy issues. Nevertheless, all of our precautions are for naught if your own machine provides criminals with access to your valuable personal data before you even hit our site.
The Internet is a scary place for some people, but it needn’t be if you just follow some very simple rules:
- Install and run good quality Anti-Virus software on your computer.
- Always keep your operating system up to date with the latest patches - If you use Windows, Microsoft makes this very easy for you and updates can even be done automatically if you want.
- If you can, use a firewall. If you’re a broadband user you probably already do and if you use Windows XP with Service Pack 2 then you probably already do as well.
- NEVER download anything from the Internet unless you are confident it is from a well respected site which has a lot to lose by doing something criminal. This is exactly how most viruses get on your machine – they pretend to be something they’re not, such as free games etc.
- NEVER open email attachments from someone you don’t know (even if you have received them from someone you do know – they may not be a cautious as you).
OK, so that all sounds a bit high-tech because you may not understand all of the terms. But really it is very easy and it's worth taking a few minutes to read the section on Microsoft’s site about staying safe – They explain things far better than ever we ever could and they provide FREE software to help you.
